Digital Imaging Technician or DIT, is a more technical role and is responsible for the management and organization of digital image and data. The DIT works with the camera and data management departments to ensure that the images captured on set are properly processed, backed up, and organized. This includes tasks such as monitoring the image quality during filming, color grading and correction, and creating digital backups of the footage. The DIT also works with the post-production team to ensure that the digital images are properly prepared for editing. This role requires a strong understanding of digital image processing and color management, as well as the ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines. Good organizational skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are also important qualities for a DIT.
