Key Grip

The Key Grip is typically responsible for the physical rigging and placement of equipment on set. They work closely with the cinematographer and gaffer to execute the lighting and camera plans. A key responsibility however is ensuring all equipment is set up safely and securely rigged. Key Grips are typically responsible for the design and execution of camera mounts, dollies, cranes, and other equipment that allows for camera movement during a shot. Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, physical dexterity, and the ability to work well under pressure are important qualities for a Key Grip.
