Positive Lock Mount or PL Mount is the mount you would see on basically all cinema cameras shooting a larger TV show or feature prior to the release of the Large Positive Lock Mount or LPL Mount. The reason for its name is when you seed the lens there’s a locking ring that your turn to lock the lens in place. Unlike most mirrorless and DSLR lenses where you have to physically turn the lens to lock it into the mount. Typically a PL mount lens will weigh significantly more than your normal Mirrorless or DSLR lens. Typically weighing an average of 2kg /4.4lbs or more.
